Sorrento 2019

A parade outside our room at a small hotel, the Maison Kalea, where we stayed three nights, April 5-7. Fireworks would erupt from time to time and we learned that it was at each church as the procession arrived at the church. We heard they have celebrations twice a year, once for the fishermen and once for the farmers.

Sitting outside of our hotel. We had a nice breakfast each morning as a part of our stay. It was inside in a breakfast area that they kept the area blocked off except when serving breakfast.

Martini's in Sorrento on the seaside patio of the Grand Hotel Excelsior Vittoria. They also provided nuts, olives and chips and then brought out small sandwiches for us.

A fun shopping area close to our hotel. It seemed fairly large and we thought it was the main area of Sorrento but once we did some driving tours we found Sorrento to be much larger that we thought. The train from Naples stopped close enough to our hotel that we walked there.

We made a day trip to Capri on a tour boat.

Linda's video of the boat ride to Capri.

The Grand Marina on Capri.

The funicolare to the town of Capri.

We signed up for a bus tour, Positano Amalfi, of the Amalfi coast. Linda's mom said it was a must see.

The Amalfi coast is very crowded with tourists and buses have to make reservations and fit into particular time slots. This is where our bus stopped and stayed while we walked around at our first stop in the city of Positano. Our guide was Sandra.

Looking on down the coast toward Salerno

On to the city of Amalfi and the Cathedral of Saint Andrew the Apostle.

On the way to the Town of Amalfi there was a rock formation that looks like the Madonna and Child.

In Amalfi we first toured the coast line by boat.

The steps leading into the Cathedral.

A street just outside the Cathedral. We spent so much time in the museum in the Cathedral we didn't have much time in the town. We did use the local ATM.

We had time for some delicious sfogliatella pastries, yum yum.

On to the last stop along the coast, the Villa Rufolo in Ravelo.

From Sorento we took the Circumversuviana back to Naples.
